“For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you -- that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.” -- Romans 1:11-12
Brothers and Sisters,
Each new year brings a new energy to our diocese. We learn more from you each year. And each year we consider the needs of the parishes we serve from the chancery offices. Our work at the chancery offices should radiate the love of Christ, strengthen the faithful and encourage a fuller life in Christ in each parish community.
This year, our Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is refocusing efforts from large diocesan events to bringing growth and formation opportunities closer to home for the parishioners in our churches. To be of better service, we will strive to work as directly with parishes as possible. In other words, “Instead of coming to us, we want to come to you,” as Father Jacob Koether, our Episcopal Vicar of Evangelization and Catechesis, puts it.
You can read in this brochure all the ways the collection from our Diocesan Services Appeal serves our area. I ask you to support these and so many other activities that teach the faith and reach out to others with the beauty of Christ. This appeal also supports the administrative tasks that are necessary for us to maintain our unity across 50 parishes and 17 mission churches in 10 counties.
I continue to feel blessed to serve as the bishop of this area and remember you daily in my prayers. May God bless you and your families with the hope that does not disappoint, and may our hearts be open to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Let’s keep each other in prayer.
+Brendan
