Resurrection Cemetery: Rules Governing Markers, Monuments and Benches
All (flat) Markers, (upright) Monuments and Benches (MMB) will be accepted for installation when the gravesite is paid for and is accompanied by an MMB application, in writing, signed by the Cemetery Office and a check covering the cost of installation. The check must be delivered to the Cemetery Office located at the Victoria Diocese Chancery, 1505 E. Mesquite Ln., Victoria, TX, 77901 or mailed to P.O. Box 4070, Victoria, TX 77903. The markers, monuments, and benches must be delivered to the cemetery at 1009 E. Mockingbird Lane, Victoria, Texas 77904.
MMB applications must be completed on the form provided by the cemetery office.
All MMBs must be granite or bronze affixed to granite. No glass or plastic vases allowed.
Markers and monuments are regulated as follows:
Victoria Catholic Cemeteries #1, #2, #3, and #4: Allow upright monuments or ground-level markers.
Resurrection Cemetery: Contact Cemetery Office for allowable Marker, Monument or Bench.
All (flat) markers must be cored for and fitted with a vase of corrosion resistant material. The maximum permissible size for a marker is: single - 20x30 inches; double – 20x60 inches; triple – 20x78x6 inches (Triple must be 6 inches.), The length, width and height may be less, but not more, than these specifications.
All (upright)monuments must have a vase of granite or bronze permanently attached to the base. Two such vases are permitted. The maximum permissible size of monuments (upright) is:= * Single – Base: 42” length, 16” width, 6” height; Die: 30” length, 8” with (slants 10” wide), 24” height * Double- Base: 66” length, 16” width, 6” height; Die 54” length, 8” width (slants 10” wide), 24” height * Triple- Base: 78” length, 16” width, 6” height; Die 54” length, 6” width (slants 10” wide), 24” height * The length, width and height may be less but not more than these specifications. * All lettering and design must be carved into the granite or on a bronze plaque permanently affixed to the granite.
Slant monuments are allowed but must be set on a base and have at least one vase.
All markers, monuments, and benches shall be delivered to the gravesite by the dealer or purchaser and will be set by cemetery personnel.
Cremation Garden requires a (flat) marker 10x20 inches. All markers must have a vase, either cored for and fitted with a vase of corrosion resistant material. The most common size cremation marker is 8x16 with a monarch vase glued to the upper smooth side of the stone. Slant markers are not allowed in this area.
Holy Innocents (Infant) #1, #2, and #3 all require a (flat) marker 10x20. All markers must have a vase; either cored for and fitted with a vase of corrosion resistant material. The most common size Infant Marker is 8x16 with a monarch vase glued to the upper smooth side of the stone.
Benches are allowed on graves that are in upright monuments areas. Benches cannot have a back and must be just the legs and seat. All benches will have pads under the legs so as to give better support. No base is allowed. Single size benches are 36 inches long or less and must be centered at the foot of the grave. Double-size benches are 48 inches or less and must be centered at the foot of both graves. Unfortunately, benches are not allowed at the foot of the grave for flat marker areas, but can be placed at the nearest tree.
If purchasing a concrete bench, which must be purchased from the cemetery, the cost will include bench, setting fee and pads.
Veteran’s bronze markers must be mounted to a granite base if it’s not part of a double marker where a vase is mounted, then the granite base must be drilled to accommodate a vase.
